“Neo Mint – a shade that succinctly aligns futuristic development with nature.”WGSN by Jane Boddy
If like me, the word ‘neo’ instills a slight gaudy fear into you – worry not. Neo Mint is surprisingly adaptable. Predicted as the 2020 colour of the year for interior design by WGSN, a global trend forecasting company, Neo Mint is set to bring a futuristic yet earthy charm into the home. Looking for a bold, geometric focus? Tick. French country chic your thing? Look no further. Neo mint can be as subtle or as vivid as your interior goals.
The unique hue (not quite turquoise, not quite green) takes the crown from Living Coral, Pantone’s 2019 colour of the year.
Described as a clean, pure tone, Neo Mint has a cool futuristic tech feel but also connects with plant life and nature.
The shade is clearly influenced by world events and global movements in 2020 such as the technology-driven AI Olympic Games and the move towards a gender-neutral appeal.
Personally, I’m not a huge follower of seasonal trends neither in my wardrobe or home. ‘On-trend’ definitely isn’t a phrase I’d use to describe myself and I’m fine with that. I’m more of a classic, low-key kinda lady. However, since exploring my love of interiors I have been tempted to incorporate more and more current trends into my style and I have to admit, it’s really fun! My favourite way to incorporate temporary styles into my decor comes via textiles or framed wall art. This way, if your colourful love affair ends up being more Kim and Kris than Romeo and Juliet, it’s easy enough to scrap without hurting the bank balance.
